TOKYO, April 13. /TASS/. Russia's nuclear corporation Rosatom is ready to take part in a tender for the construction of the first nuclear power plant in Malaysia should it be announced, Rosatom Deputy Director General Kirill Komarov said Monday in an interview with TASS.
"Taking into account the fact that in 2009 the Malaysian government agreed to develop nuclear power as a component of the country's energy production from 2020 and, despite the fact that the Russian Federation has not signed an intergovernmental agreement with Malaysia on using nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, we are ready to take part in a tender for the construction of the first nuclear power plant in the country in case it is announced," Komarov said.
The agency's interlocutor said that Rosatom "is preparing a comprehensive offer for the partners."
"In countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, which plan to develop nuclear energy, we are ready to offer cooperation in the construction of reactors of 3+ generation (with the capacity of 1000MW and 1200MW), meeting all safety standards, including "post-Fukushima" safety requirements," he explained.
