DUBAI, April 3. /TASS/. Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian demanded that the UN Security Council deliver a proportionate and clear reaction to the Israeli strike on the consular section of the Iranian embassy in Damascus.
"In a telephone conversation with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, reiterating the responsibility of this organization <...> to maintain peace and security, I demanded a clear and proportionate response and condemnation of the recent crime from the UN Security Council," the minister said on X.
According to the minister, Guterres expressed condolences to Iran.
On April 1, the Syrian news agency SANA reported that the Israeli Air Force struck a building in Damascus. Iranian news media said the building was the Iranian consulate. The IRGC public relations office reported that seven military advisers were killed: generals Mohammed Reza Zahedi and Mohammad Hadi Haji Rahimi, along with five other officers. According to the Iranian government-owned television channel IRIB, Zahedi commanded Quds forces in Lebanon and Syria.
