BUCHAREST, December 14. /TASS/. The Romanian Foreign Ministry said it summoned Russian Ambassador Valery Kuzmin over an incident that took place overnight into December 14 near the village of Grindu.
"Foreign Ministry State Secretary for Strategic Affairs Iulian Fota has expressed a firm protest of the Romanian government over the latest incident caused by the uncontrolled crash of a drone used in the attack on Ukrainian port infrastructure," the ministry said in a statement.
The Romanian Defense Ministry earlier said that overnight into December 14 military radars detected a potential violation of the country's airspace. Romania scrambled its F-16 and Eurofighter jets from two air bases. The ministry said in a statement that in the morning a 1.5-meter-deep crater was found in an unpopulated area about 4 kilometers from the village of Grindu. According to the ministry, the crater was caused by the uncontrolled crash of a drone used in the attack on Ukrainian port infrastructure.
In comments on the Romanian Foreign Ministry’s statement, NATO spokesman Dylan White said on X, formerly Twitter, that NATO had no information that would affirm that Russia delivered deliberate strikes on any of the alliance’s member countries.
